Questionnaire Factor Survey "Purpose"

Attached is an overview of the questions included in the survey if you carry out a factor survey specifically on “Meaning”. The 16 questions are based on the research model behind the report “Mening - fryns eller nødvendighed” (Meaning - perk or necessity), published by the Knowledge Centre for Job Satisfaction.

Structure of the questionnaire

Meaning is not just meaning.  The questionnaire is based on four dimensions, each of which is important for creating meaning. This has been documented and validated by the Knowledge Centre for Job Satisfaction in collaboration with Kantar Gallup.

The four dimensions are:

  • Inner meaning: Inner meaning is about the experience that my work gives me something on a personal level. My work is meaningful to me in relation to who I am, what I can do and what I want from my working life.

  • Greater meaning: Greater meaning is about the experience that through my work I contribute to something bigger. That my work serves a greater purpose - either for people or for society as a whole.

  • Collegial meaning: Collegial meaning is about the experience that at work we bring out the best in each other. In other words, thanks to our community as colleagues, we become better both socially and professionally than we would be on our own.

  • Organisational meaning: Organisational meaning is about the experience that the decisions and changes made in my workplace make sense to me.
